From Ms. Goodall and Ms. Edlund:

Every Friday we celebrate our Paws winners!  Many of you have even received a message from Ms. Goodall letting you know that your child was one of our winners.  "Paws" at Lyseth are small tickets that staff hand out to students when they notice them demonstrating one of our core values: Respect, Achievement, Empathy, Joy, and Collaboration.  At the end of each day classroom teachers collect the Paws that students have earned. At the end of each week, each classroom teacher selects one of the students who has earned several paws throughout the week to be honored on Friday afternoon.   

Our system of Paws is a component of our school's PBIS system.  PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. It's a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. PBIS emphasizes teaching behavioral expectations in the same way as any other core curriculum subject. Key components of PBIS at Lyseth include teaching and modeling positive behaviors, establishing clear expectations, providing consistent feedback--such as Paws, and implementing strategies to support students who may need additional support. 

We believe that clear expectations and positive reinforcement helps students navigate their busy school days.  More importantly, all Lyseth staff are committed to making sure students always remember how much they shine, and how wonderful they each are.  Paws are a fun, and easy way to make sure we remember to let them know!  Be sure to ask your children if they've earned any Paws this week!
