Dear Lyseth Students, Parents, and Community Members,
We are all extremely excited to begin the 2011-2012 school year. As always, the Lyseth School team is committed to highest levels of student achievement, celebrating the diversity and individuality of learning styles, and assuring that all learning occurs in a caring, respectful, and safe environment.
Our 2011-2012 school improvement goals will focus on improving student achievement in literacy and numeracy. The introduction of a web based student progress monitoring system known as AIMSweb will assist teachers in monitoring student progress on specific Math and Literacy skills and also provide important data on how to intervene instructionally when students are not making adequate progress toward learning benchmarks. I urge you to visit AIMSweb.com to learn more about this data management system. You will be hearing about your child's progress in comparison to local, state, and national standards throughout the school year when meeting with your child's teachers.
Our goals for improvement also center around the development of a supportive and collaborative school culture where positive and consistent behavioral expectations are taught and modeled for students and adults. We have a team assembled which includes teachers, a parent, a student and myself. I encourage you to go www.PBIS.org to investigate this great program, Positive Behavior Interventions and Support or PBIS.
Please feel free to stop in and ask questions about our goals and initiatives or e-mail me and or staff directly.
Your child’s education is a collaborative and supportive partnership between the home and school environments and together we will ensure that your child’s educational journey is a success.
I look forward to working with you in the days ahead!
Lenore M. Williams, Principal
